Global Power Line Academy (GPLA) has developed a course of study designed to address the basic fundamentals for those entering the line worker field. This training provides the foundation for a GPLA graduate to begin his or her career as a lineman and continue advancement toward a journeyman classification.
Our course listing is: rigging, pole climbing, mechanical lifting, line related tools, wire and cable, pole line hardware, anchors and guy wires, secondary and customer hookup, primary system materials, personal protection, and general electric information.
This 10 week program is 40 hours a week for a total of 400 hours. GPLA offers 3 training sessions per year: April through November. Our tuition is $8,500, which does not include tools and housing. Upon completion of the program, our students receive a diploma.
GPLA is licensed by the PA Department of Education Private Licensed Schools. Requirements for students to attend our program is a high school diploma or equivalent and a physical. We recommend our students get a DOT physical.
