4D Health Tech is an innovative network led by a team of researchers from the University of Birmingham and Imperial. Funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), this project is part of a £10 million investment in six transdisciplinary research endeavors.
Our vision is to revolutionize medical devices by integrating time-dependent changes and improve device outcomes.
Key Researchers: Dr Sophie Cox, Prof Andrew Dove, Prof Michael Bryant, and Dr Samantha Cruz Rivera from the University of Birmingham, along with Dr Connor Myant and Prof Robert Hewson from Imperial.
The network aligns with EPSRC's strategy to tackle challenges identified in the 2022 report "Tomorrow's Engineering Research Challenges" (TERC). 4D Health Tech aims to transform engineering mindset to include the fourth dimension of time, making significant strides in the field of dynamic medical devices. This work promises to enhance the quality of healthcare by developing devices that can adapt and respond to the body's natural changes over time. While also embedding the patient voice in this sector transformation.
