50ty50typrints Overview

The brainchild of Black River Studio, the initiative is named 50ty/50ty after the collaborative process between artist and printmaker in the creation of a fine art print. The name also references the maximum number of prints to which each edition is limited – with smaller editions commanding higher prices, and editions of 50 more affordable. As such, the artworks produced fall into one of three project streams: • 50ty/50ty Prints was conceived to offer collectors affordable work by high calibre artists – a feat made possible through collaboration, the fine art of the screen print, and the digital marketplace. • Meet-in-the-making features artworks inspired by artists’ sketchbooks and the treasures of the creative process. Printed in editions of 25 on A3 sized paper, it is the studio’s most affordable range yet. • Special Projects are all about big names, bigger ideas, large scale and small editions. It’s where the studio really pushes the limits of the art of screen print and of creative collaboration. Wim and Jeanne Legrand are the artist duo behind the Black River Studio – a production space for hand-pulled, fine art screen printing that caters specifically to the needs of professional artists, designers and illustrators. 50ty/50ty serves to showcase the studio’s artisan approach to screen printing and the exciting physical process involved.
