The First IPC was held in Calcutta in Dec. 1948 under the leadership of Prof. M.L. Schroff, and continued the legacy in the field of Pharmacy by organizing 72 congresses throughout the country to promote better dealing of the Pharmaceutical products including latest innovations in Pharmacy and to create awareness among general public on matters of common interest to the Pharmacy community and thus to the society at large. The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) organised 58 IPC’s from 1948 to 2006 continuously. From 2006 onwards IPC is being organised by Federating Associations (IPA-APTI-IPGA-AIDCOC-IHPA) on rotation system. The 73rd IPC is being organised by IPA as per rotation system followed.
