In our modern day society, we have become conditioned (practically programmed) to think that when we make the difficult decision to divorce or encounter other family related disputes, each party must hire separate attorneys, go to court and become adversaries (if not enemies), destroy the other person (if not a piece of ourselves in the process) to "win"...at any cost.
In reality, the only winners in litigation are attorneys. Nowhere is this more true than with the unique dynamics of family related matters and divorce. -The average divorce attorney costs $250 per hour. This hourly rate is just the tip of the iceberg though. Additionally, you will pay for paralegal fees, copy/document fees, court fees, phone calls, emails, research, case preparation, etc. and will have to pay a large retainer (typically $5,000.00 or more) before most attorneys will even take your case. Also, most attorneys charge on a "quarter hour" basis. This means if your attorney makes a 2 minute phone call, you will pay for 15 minutes of their time. ..and it's all legal...Unbelievable!
