The Aachen Graphene & 2D-Materials Center is a joint initiative of the RWTH Aachen University and of AMO GmbH that brings together the complementary expertise and facilities of Aachen’s leading research groups in the field of graphene and two-dimensional (2D) materials. The activities of the Center cover the entire value-chain needed to bridge the gap between basic science and applications, ranging from material science to fundamental physics, to device design and analytics, to manufacturing.
The research performed at the Center aims at understanding the unique properties of graphene and other 2D materials, and at exploiting them for applications in the fields of high-frequency electronics, flexible electronics, energy-efficient sensing, photonics, as well as for neuromorphic computing and quantum technologies. Particular attention is paid to approaches that are scalable and integrable with existing semiconductor technology.
The Center trains young researchers and promotes collaborations and networking among scientists with diverse backgrounds. The Center also aims at facilitating the uptake of graphene and 2D materials by industry, engaging with local and global industries, as well as with businesspeople and society.
