Abhyutthana Financial Learning Centre, has been incorporated in February 2014, and registered with Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India ( Identification No : AAC -0781) with an objective of promoting financial awareness and imparting financial literacy in the state to further forward financial inclusion. Promoted by Dasarathi Mishra, former CGM, Reserve Bank of India, an experienced central banker and banking regulator, AFLC has been authorized under NGO Partnership System of NITI Ayog (Unique ID: OR/2016/0112009).
2. AFCL regularly conducts financial literacy programmes targeting youth and financially illiterate segments of the society. In the last four years, it has conducted 37 workshops on financial literacy in educational institutions in Odisha covering around 7,000 students and for SHG beneficiaries.
• In March 2018, AFLC conducted a State Level Conclave on Financial Literacy and Financial Inclusion, inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for MSME, SSEPD and W&C D , Government of Odisha Shri Prafulla Samal. Shri Prashant Saran, former Whole Time Member, SEBI, Dr Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM, Mumbai .
3. Skill development combined with financial literacy has the tremendous potentiality that would help the youth/ students of Technical Institutes , Polytechnics in Odisha prepare for self- employment. The financial knowledge , skill would make them good managers who can handle the complexities of the emerging financial world efficiently.
4. National Strategy for Financial Education of Government of India, 2009 , lays emphasis on financial education for achieving financial inclusion and inclusive growth. As per a study by National Centre for Financial Education , the financial literacy rate in Odisha is as low as 9 per cent against all India average of 23 per cent. The RBI Committee on Financial Inclusion, 201 has also highlighted the linkages among financial education and consumer protection.
