Academic English Specialists (AES) is made up of scholars with different areas of expertise, but who share the experience of being in roles to support efforts among universities worldwide to engage with the global academic community. Most members of AES have been invited by the U.S. Department of State, under its English Language Programs, to work on projects as Specialists and Fellows. Although these projects focus on different aspects of what is referred to as “internationalization,” they are all actually interrelated. Universities worldwide do not need “only” help in writing for publication, or “only” training for faculty that need to teach through English, or “only” support for Academic English curriculum development, for example. They need sustainable solutions that address their efforts to internationalize, but ones that act in harmony with each other, and in concert with the institution. We are here to help provide those kinds of solutions for both individual scholars and entire universities. As lifelong educators in English for Academic Purposes, it is what we have done for many years, but not necessarily together. Now, with AES, we share a space where we can be reached by all. By you.
