Accelerate West Central Indiana is a regional economic development organization serving Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties.
Our region places an emphasis on maintaining its diverse and highly educated populace though an excellent educational system, which includes Indiana State University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Ivy Tech Community College and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Top industry clusters include advanced manufacturing, bio/life sciences, agriculture and business services. It is also home to the second largest FedEx hub in the country.
The area is served by Interstates 70 and 74, U.S. Highways and State Roads, and CSX Transportation and Indiana Rail Road have lines serving this portion of the state. The Terre Haute International Airport which has the fourth longest runway in the state, at 9,020 feet, which can accommodate most any size aircraft including a 747. The Indianapolis International Airport is approximately 60 miles from most points in West Central Indiana.
