Arden Child Sphere is a not-for-profit organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. The organization was established after the realization that there was a serious need to restore and strengthen children’s protective environment. It focuses on adopting a proactive approach in child protection and has adopted four main strategies to help achieve its objectives. The first strategy is training/capacity building targeted towards people who relate directly with children including parents, teachers, nannies, daycare providers among others. Training focuses enhancing knowledge and skills among individuals and entities that enable them to improve on the welfare and safety of children. The second strategy is advocacy, which involves collaborating with other organizations to advance policies and practices that enhance safety of children within the communities. Thirdly, the organization adopted research as another crucial element in understanding the status of children welfare and safety and provide data-driven recommendations to other organizations and the community at large. Lastly, Arden Child Sphere engages in consultancy to help other organizations remain focused on their child protection goals. Through consultancy, the organization ensure that principles of child protection and safety are adhered to in every project within the communities.
It has programs aimed at making the future safer and more enjoyable for the children. Through these programs, the organization has embarked on comprehensive sexuality education to schools and families as means of reducing teenage pregnancies; mentorship programs for teenage or young mothers to help them bring up their children safely. The mentorship program also includes mental health and financial literacy.
