ACTL has developed Power-Roof® which is an innovative roofing delivers rapid Net Zero for both retrofit and newbuild
Power-Roof(R) is a weather proof roofing cassette which intergates Photo Voltaic Modules (Thin Film), solar and ambient heat recovery, insulation to a U-Value of 0.1 (mineral fibre) in a light weight structural frame that can be placed on the roofs of poorly insulated housing or incorporated with new build houses and then delivers Net Zero for that house because with the heat it retains and its heat recovery and renewable generation, the energy demand of the house is both reduced and met by Power-Roof®.
Furthermore, the cost of Power-Roof® is equivalent to a new roof using traditional materials and methods with the Photo Voltaic modules added later and then the amount of insulation required to deliver a 0.1 U-Value.
In essence Power-Roof® through its energy retention by insulation, heat recovery helping heating systems and the generation from the PV, a house is rendered Net Zero. Furthermore, because Power-Roof® is manufactured in a factory and arrives on-site ready for install, for most houses installation takes less than a day. Because the roof is designed to integrate all its components and reduce costs, the resultant roof will effectively pay for itself in between 5 and 10 years making it affordable for local authorities and saving on long-term public sector borrowing.
ACTL has just completed a showcase Innovate UK project to manufacture and install Power-Roof® on two semi-detached houses in South West Wales and we will shortly have results and feedback from the social housing provider and the tenants.
In the light of the £58.8 Billion per annum that the UK domestic sector UK spends on energy (2024 DUKES-ONS), using Power-Roof(R) to deliver Net Zero to a significant proportion of such houses will make significant inroads into the Government objectives for Net Zero by 2030 and 2050 as well as releasing a similar amount into the economy
