The word advent comes from the Latin word adventus, which means "to arrive" or "an appearance." It connotes the appearance of or coming into being of something new and significant. It also is the early root of the word adventure, which in Latin meant future arrival or development. Advent describes the ethos of our work: the arrival of a new approach, new way of doing business. Determined thought leaders who focus on holistic solutions that are people-centric and keep equity at the heart of the work.
Our core competencies are in strategic advising (facilitating and consulting), project planning and management, and program design and stakeholder engagement. Our practice area has traditionally been in the health and human services space, but our view of community health follows the socioecological model, which holds that there are many inputs into that system. We are therefore eager to work in new program and policy areas to continue learning and refining our understanding of how to help people and communities reach their full potential.
