Founded in 2007, the Afghanistan Women's Team have been pioneers of women's football in Afghanistan, giving opportunity for girls all over the country to achieve their dreams and compete in the game they love.
In 2021, the team were exiled from the country, as the Taliban took over and enforced a cruel system of gender apartheid, that stripped women of their freedom, and that forced thousands to leave the country for their safety.
Our senior team are based in Melbourne, Australia, and we have players in the US, the UK, Germany, Portugal and Italy. Our right to play football representing our country has been taken from us, as the Taliban's ban on women competing as Afghan athletes extends beyond their borders. We are campaigning to change that.
