AWE is a non-profit, non-governmental organization focused on empowerment of women and girls to be change agents and catalysts for democracy in society. Girls and Women make up over 50% of South Sudan; only by empowering them to realize their potential, fully and freely participate in all aspects of society can South Sudan achieve a lasting peace. As an NGO, AWE seeks to contribute to that realization by serving as a platform for advocating, promoting, and collaborating with girls and women at the local level across critical elements to form a strong thriving inclusive community. The aim is to enlighten Girls and Women of their rights, build their confidence to improve and invest in themselves, make meaningful living and upgrade their statuses, thereby empowering them to take up key responsibilities in the communities at both national and state level.
