About Agape Youth & Family Center - Atlanta
The mission of Agape is to empower and support under-served families within its community to discover and embrace their full potential. Agape achieves this mission by offering programs and services providing aid, education, guidance and opportunities to raise the education and income level of the community to break the generational cycle of poverty. Agape is at capacity, serving close to 200 children, providing after-school programming and family services which focus on character development, academic achievement, reading proficiency by third grade, high school graduation and post-graduation placement. High school seniors enrolled at Agape have a 100% graduation rate. After graduation, 20% find employment, 40% vocational school and 40% go to college. The children served at Agape are 90% Hispanic Latino and 10% African American; 100% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch at school based on family income. Find out more at www.agapeatlanta.org Current Programs Afterschool for Elementary and Middle School Students The Ginger Kaney Mentoring Institute for High School Students Ragtime, A Day Program for Seniors and Disabled Adults Extreme Bedroom Makeover: 93 children served and counting Emergency assistance for families of after-school and Ragtime participants The Great Backpack Giveaway: 1,000+ school-age children served annually GOGIRLGO! and F.I.T. Camp for Boys: athletic, health, and wellness-based summer camps for 50 girls and 40 boys annually Camp Jumpstart: a summer early reading program for 30 rising first and second graders The Fresh Produce Family Backpack Program: 100 bags for 100 children The Great Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway: 500 turkeys and at least 1,000 bags of food are give to the surrounding community every year The Agape Holiday Store: 400 children served annually with an estimated amount of 1,500 toys donated
