Age Concern is a local, independent charity that has spent the last 50 years empowering those over 50 in Southend-On-Sea and surrounding areas. Our mission is to help older adults to live healthier, happier and more independent lives while fostering a strong, vibrant community where they can truly thrive.
We are the only organisation in the area offering vital services like Dementia Day Care, befriending services, activities, and falls prevention programmes all under one roof.
2025 is a very important year for the charity as we have an incredible opportunity to secure our future by purchasing The Hub building, which would save £90,000 annually in rent and give us the financial stability to expand our services and meet the growing demand to ensure we’re there for those who need us most.
Thanks to a generous grant, from the Community Ownership Fund we’re close to securing the £1.2 million needed for this purchase. But we still need to raise £240,000 by September 2025 to make this dream a reality
