The Alberta Native Plant Council (ANPC) Society was incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta on May 4, 1988 as a not-for-profit society by Peter Achuff (Chair), Derek Johnston (Director), Cliff Wallis (Vice-Chair), Elisabeth Beaubien (Director), Julie Hrapko (Treasurer) and Lorna Allen (Secretary). Mission: The Alberta Native Plant Council (ANPC) shares knowledge and supports the conservation of native plants and native plant habitat in Alberta through outreach, publications and guidelines, stewardship, advocacy, research, and funding and implementing native plant projects. Vision: Albertans know, value, and protect native plants and where they grow. Values: Collaboration, Stewardship, Ethical, Influencing Management Through Science, Longevity, Love of Nature Objectives: (1) To provide a provincial forum to promote knowledge and conservation of native plants and vegetation of Alberta; (2) To co-ordinate information and activities on native plants in Alberta;(3) To educate government, industry and individuals on native plants – their management and protection; (4) To encourage research on native plants; (5) To develop conservation, restoration and monitoring actions for the preservation of natural habitats and plant communities; and (6) To develop guidelines and strategies for appropriate use of Alberta native plants.
