AlgAran is a small Company!
It was established on Inis mór, Aran Islands, 20 years ago and has been based in Glencolmcille, Donegal, since 2005. We produce Organic products for Health & Beauty based on local hand-harvested Seaweed. We are certified by Organic Trust Ltd, Licence no.778.
Rosaria is the founder and sole shareholder of AlgAran. In January 2001, her passion for Seaweed and the intention to build her own business around it allowed her to run away from an abusive marriage and land in Ireland to start a new life and complete her studies on Seaweed directly at the best shores on the planet along the Donegal Wild Atlantic coast.
Seaweed contains every mineral on earth, is the best source of Iodine, and can help the body prevent the harmful effects of radiation and contaminants pollution. However, Seaweed must be adequately washed and decontaminated before being used as a food or cosmetic ingredient. Since the beginning, AlgAran has adopted an innovative ultrasound-assisted washing technology to remove the possible content of heavy metals before the transformation processes.
All AlgAran products are tested regularly and conform to EU regulations. The EU Recommendation 464/2018 is our guide to obtaining safe and healthy seaweed preparations.
We at AlgAran firmly believe in green high technology to help us as organic manufacturers use less energy for maximum performance. However, we are still convinced that nature only can provide the best ingredients to support our health. We respect nature's wisdom and are still amazed by the ocean's incredible power and the healing effect of this ancient form of life, seaweed.
