Allied Domecq PLC

Allied Domecq PLC was an international company listed on FTSE 100, headquartered in Bristol, United Kingdom, that operated spirits, wine, and quick service restaurant businesses. It was the result of a 1994 merger between Allied Lyons and Pedro Domecq S.A. Previously, Allied Lyons was the result of a 1978 merger between Allied Breweries and the food and catering group J. Lyons and Co. On the other hand, Pedro Domecq was a Spanish company founded in 1730 as a sherry wine and brandy producer even including assets and brands of whisky, tequila and other wines, owed at 54% by Hiram Walker Europe which was also shared at the same time by Allied Lyons at 50%. Their product portfolio included: Ballantine's whisky, Teacher's whisky, Laphroaig malt whisky, Courvoisier cognac, Fundador brandy, Terry brandy, Tres Cepas brandy, Carlos I brandy, Carlos III brandy, Canadian Club whisky, Kahlúa coffee liqueur, Malibu a coconut-flavoured rum-based spirit, Maker's Mark Kentucky bourbon whiskey, Mumm champagne, Don Pedro Brandy, Presidente brandy, Stolichnaya vodka, Tia Maria liqueur, Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry, Cockburn's Port, Sauza Tequila, Clos du Bois and other Sonoma and Napa wine brands, Larios gin, DYC whisky, Kuemmerling bitters. In 2005, Allied Domecq was fully acquired by Pernod Ricard and Fortune Brands (Jim Beam’s owner). Both companies divided and owned themselves all the Allied Domecq’s assets and brands. Pernod Ricard currently keeps as the same company after that acquisition, while Fortune Brands was later transformed into Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Beam Suntory and nowadays Suntory Global Spirits.
