The NGO ALP (Agricole Local Partner) is a non-governmental organization that has
set itself the objective to help producers of perennial crops in general and in the field of
coffee-cocoa in particular, to promote their activities in order to lead decision-makers to
take the most appropriate decisions in their favour in order to improve their living
conditions.
Our main tool is the collection of agro-economic data from farmers through paper or
electronic surveys, to best match their realities and their households.
We have been formed since January 2013 but the main actors behind it have more than
10 years of experience in data collection and processing.
In the course of our activities, we have attached ourselves to the services of major
Ivorian and European research centres that support us in research projects, through their
experts.
- We signed a framework agreement with CIRAD-France (Centre de
Coopération International en Recherche Agronomique pour le
Développement) for yearly data collection in Côte d'Ivoire.
- We participated between 2012 and 2013 in the study of the impact of
UTZ certification on cocoa cooperatives and producers in Côte d'Ivoire in
collaboration with the research Institute of Wageningen University in the
Netherlands.
- We were responsible for the implementation of the monitoring and
evaluation of the “Fertilizer Initiative in Côte d’Ivoire” project of the Idh
Foundation in collaboration with the Conseil Café Cacao, CIRAD, the
entire cocoa industry, the CNRA, ANADER, etc. from July 2013 to
September 2018.
- We participated with the KIT Foundation of the Netherlands in cocoa
demystification project in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana in February 2016,
which consisted of collecting data from all cocoa producing areas in both
countries to create a data base accessible free of charge by all. We visited
40 cocoa producing villages or former cocoa producers in 40 days to
understand the dynamics of different production systems.
