Rolfing® addresses dysfunctions in the connective tissue of the body. Using specific techniques, Rolfers™ work the entire body over the course of the 10 Series to help the body find a posture and positioning of greatest ease. Through physical manipulation, pattern self-recognition and movement re-education, Rolfing® releases patterns of stress and impaired function throughout the body. People seek Rolfing® to enhance posture and freedom of movement. It can also resolve pain and discomfort from many different causes including chronic stress, back pain, repetitive motion injury, trauma, and aging. Rolfing® is an excellent foundation and complement for yoga, Pilates, and other personal wellness practices.
Rolf Movement™ is a form of bodywork that works to improve structure and movement of an individual within gravity. Ideally a well-balanced body moves fluidly in alignment with gravity. The body experiences support from below while experiencing lift from above, opening and lengthening for every movement made.
As a Rolf Movement Practitioner™ I work with clients to identify the movement patterns that promote strain and asymmetry in the system. Once these patterns are identified, I, as the Rolf Movement Practitioner™, don’t seek to change those patterns which have served the client well. Instead, more economical solutions are identified solutions that promote greater balance and efficiency in the gravitational field.
