I've been cooking all my life, starting at a very young age with my Mum & Grandparents, & recently living in Apac influenced by the amazing array of foods, culture & ingredients on my doorstep. I love to experiment, create & sometimes plagiarise years-old dishes that I experience in hawkers or on the streets.
Why the Angmo Cooking Show?
Ang mo, or ang moh, is a racial descriptor used to refer to white people that is sometimes seen as a pejorative epithet. It is mainly used in Singapore & Taiwan and to a lesser extent in Malaysia & Thailand. It literally means "red-haired" & originates from Hokkien, a variety of Southern Min.
Yep, that's me, originally a ginger, but now grey - and I cook, a LOT!!!
