AnimaT1D is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) community through free, medically accurate educational videos. Founded in 2023 by Dr. Radhika Purushothaman, a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist, and Molly Barry, a Speech-Language Pathologist and T1D parent, AnimaT1D addresses the critical need for accessible visual education, especially for neurodivergent individuals.
Our mission is to make complex T1D information understandable and relatable for all, through engaging visual storytelling. Our YouTube channel features playlists such as "Diabetes Basics" and "Carbohydrates and Type 1 Diabetes," all scripted by Dr. Purushothaman to ensure content is evidence-based and reliable. We are committed to expanding our reach globally, collaborating with experts to produce content in multiple languages and covering a broad range of topics, including insulin management, mental health, and more.
