Anthony West’s passion for Wildlife began while living in Africa. His experiences ranged from stunning Butterflies in the Malayan peninsula, seeing snakes in the garden to animals in the wild where his love of Big Cats began.
Anthony finished school in Singapore spending time in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Taiping. After University, he taught for many years, before running his own Photography Business.
Over the last ten years Anthony has indulged in his love of Wildlife and the sea by creating photographic fine art images on canvases or giclee prints of majestic Big Cats, African Penguins, Red Deer, Sealife, seascapes and landscapes from the UK, New Zealand, South Africa and the US. Recently, Anthony has built a relationship with the Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent where he has had the opportunity of photographing these endangered animals and recognises the amazing work of the Charity with a donation from each sale. We now enjoy volunteering at The Big Cat Sanctuary and are now able to full focus on our reason for beginning the business to help fundraise for these beautiful animals.
I believe Photography becomes Fine Art when we visualise what we wish to create beyond what we actually see through the lens. Whilst out photographing Lions and Tigers I sit watching them for a long time waiting for their eyes to bore into mine as I become emotionally immersed into their world, overwhelmed by their magnificence which evokes my determination to ensure my artwork justifiably portrays them. I enhance every image with watercolour and brush filters to bring out the contrasting elements of the Cats to ensure the artwork is aesthetically pleasing.
