BACKGROUND
Ari Huusela is an ocean sailor and an airline Captain (A350) at Finnair. He has been sailing and racing over 30 years of which most single handed. His top achievements are single handed trans Atlantic races 1999 and 2007 with Classe Mini boats and with a Class 40 boat in Route du Rhum 2014. Ari was the first ever Nordic skipper to finish this legendary race. Again he made sailing history by becoming the first Nordic Imoca Globe Series -skipper and finishing Route du Rhum 2018 in class Imoca as 11th. Other Imoca Globe Series races after that have been a 2000NM Bermudes Race spring 2019 and world's most famous coffee route race Transat Jacques Vabre from France to Brazil Oct-Nov 2019. He finished the Vendée Globe on his first attempt.
