Adhering to cultural norms, paying attention to cultural hierarchies, as well as addressing linguistic barriers in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment can be challenging. There is much to consider such as interacting language families, cultural norms and traditions. Language comprehension for non-native speakers relies on clear speech and familiarity to pronunciation amongst many other aspects of language. Cultural barriers arise from the lack of understanding and awareness to cultural behaviors. Dealing with linguistic and cultural barriers can be frustrating and even detrimental to your desired goals when faced with multi-cultural and multi-lingual environments. It makes a world of difference understanding the importance of body language, eye-contact, culturally-based proper conduct (i.e. hierarchies, political tensions to only name a few), pronunciation, acoustic, and sound-travel etc. If you are faced with cultural and linguistic challenges, we would love to hear from you.
