Richard Pieris Distributors Ltd (RPD) is the retail sector fully owned subsidiary of RPC (Richard Pieris Company PLC), the largest hypermarket chain in Sri Lanka operating under the brand name ‘Arpico Supercentre’. The pioneers of the hypermarket concept in Sri Lanka with the “Everything under One Roof” concept, Arpico houses a wide array of products including FMCG, Household Durables, Toys, Giftware, Electronics, Rubber Products, Bakery & Café, Pharmaceuticals and Furniture along with a host of lifestyle solutions such as utility bill payment facilities. Commencing operations in 1932 as a manufacturing-based company, the group became more retail focused in late 80’s with Arpico. In the year 2001 the first ever Arpico Supercentre commenced operations in Battaramulla as a revolutionized retail initiative. Over the years, the company welcomed ‘Arpico Daily’ supermarkets, in a strategic effort to take the brand essence to more customers across developing urban and suburban areas. With a firm footprint in the Western, Central, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and North Central provinces,over 60+ strategically placed locations in Sri Lanka, Arpico offers over 45,000+ products through its chain of outlets. Selected Supercentres and Superstores also provide freshly baked goodies under the ‘Crust’ Café brand and also offer other specialized services such as mobile accessories, salons, fast food, jewellery shops etc. through external vendors. ‘Arpico Privilege’ loyalty programme was introduced to ensure that the loyalty cardholder gets the most unique and sought-after customer experiences including exclusive discounts, giveaways and lifestyle offers in store and at selected cafes, restaurants, hotels & resorts and retailers. Consisting of over 1 million loyal patrons which is steadily growing every day, Arpico Privilege is the highest rewarding loyalty platform in retail, where Rs.1 is given for every Rs.200 spent by the customer.
