Overview
Arua Technical Institute - Ragem (ATIR) is a government-aided Technical Institute found in Arua District, North Western (West Nile) region of Uganda, under Arua Catholic Diocese. It is located in a strategic area, 3KMs from the centre of Arua Town.
The Institute originated from the former Uganda Technical College - Ombachi which was Opened in 1985 to cater for West Nile Region. The UTC - Ombachi was later on closed in 1987 as per the Government Policy to reduce the number of Technical Colleges in the Country.
In 1990, through the struggle of the Elders of Arua District under the Chairmanship of His Lordship, the then Bishop of Arua Catholic Diocese, the Rt Rev. Federick Drandua, a status of Technical Institute was then granted by the Goverment of Uganda to replace Uganda Technical College - Ombachi.
The Institute was opened and moved from Ombachi to Ragem, the Persent Site.
