Jaclyn Hunt is a is a Board Certified Cognitive Specialist (BCCS) at the Master’s level who serves as a cognitive coach for adults. Also an author, she specializes in working with adults on the autism spectrum in the areas of advanced social skills, communication skills, independent living, college/career development and executive functioning skills. As the owner of ASD Life Coaches, LLC, Jaclyn leads a team of coaches who work with thousands of clients across the country, and overseas, on these very practical skills. It is her hope and mission to raise awareness and understanding about ASD throughout the lifespan and to change how it is currently being treated in the United States today. Notably, one out of every 36 children are diagnosed with ASD in the United States today and there are over 5 million adults diagnosed. This does not take into account the millions of older adults that have gone undiagnosed. ASD is a social and communicative disability that is often invisible to the naked eye compared to other learning and physical disabilities. This presentation will focus on educating participants on neurodiversity in the community and how to best serve individuals who present somewhere on the autism spectrum. Learning about neurodiversity not only helps those on the autism spectrum function in the world successfully, it also creates a more accepting and understanding environment enriched with effective communication for all people regardless of their social level of functioning.
