Aspirity Holdings (Aspirity or the Company), formerly known as Twin Cities Power Holdings, is a holding company that conducts its operations principally through wholly-owned subsidiaries. Our roots go back to 2005, when our founder, Tim Krieger, began trading electricity in North American wholesale markets.
For some time, our Board had been considering ways to better position the Company to access public equity markets and determined that we needed to substantially reduce our earnings volatility and regulatory exposure.
Consequently, in 2015, we restructured. This process included the sale of two of our wholesale trading businesses and the spin-off to Tim Krieger of Krieger Enterprises incorporating our three legacy business segments – wholesale trading, retail energy services, and diversified investments.
Today we operate two businesses isolated from the inherent earnings volatility and regulatory exposure associated with the wholesale electricity markets – Aspirity Energy and Aspirity Financial.
Aspirity Energy is in the process of becoming licensed as a competitive provider in all 14 jurisdictions that allow all retail customers of investor-owned utilities to choose who supplies them with electricity. Aspirity Financial will provide energy-related financial services to companies and households.
