At AstroNoir, we are a science communications platform that aims to make #science, #technology, #engineering, the #arts, & #mathematics (#STEAM / #STEM) accessible and inclusive. We strongly believe that acquiring new skills should not be hard and that anyone with a passion can learn. Our goal is to be a resource that facilitates learning and, in doing so, we hope to amplify a diverse group of voices and create a communal safe space.
Since our start in 2020, we have published blog posts, hosted online talks, and distributed videos - either independently or in collaboration with various organizations, including UK Students for the Exploration & Development of Space (UKSEDS), University College London's (UCL's) Center for Outer Space Studies (COSS), and UCL's Earth Sciences Department Ethnic Diversity Network.
In 2023, we launched the AstroNoir magazine which brought climate to the people, explaining natural and political science concepts to a broad audience. Our first in-person event, held at the InterContinental Hotel Genève, brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds and fields. In our second in-person event, taking place in collaboration with UCL's Earth Sciences Department, we provided a safe space to discuss mental health in academia.
AstroNoir empowers diverse voices in STEAM communities by promoting accessible education, linking citizen scientists with industry, academia, and governments, and organizing hands-on events. By valuing diversity, equity, and inclusivity, we strive to amplify all voices - encouraging innovative ideas whilst empowering all the communities we represent.
