ATR Shield Designed by surveyors, for surveyors. After suffering many years of struggling in the rain, a UK based survey company began designing and testing prototypes for a permanent solution to the Total Station losing lock on the surveyors’ prism in poor weather conditions. After a year of testing, breaking, tweaking, re-designing and continued testing, the ATR Shield was born. A select chosen few survey companies were given the final prototype and the ATR Shield was tested in all weather conditions, from drizzle to heavy rain and strong winds. The ATR Shield was even tested in snow and because the ATR screen is shielded from the snow settling on the Total Station, the equipment still maintained lock. In all tests by various surveyors, with the ATR Shield attached, the Total Station maintained lock in all weather conditions. ATR Shield – Radio Handle protector Just before the release of the ATR Shield we received a lot of feedback from the survey industry stating that their other main issue was keeping the radio handle connection point dry. We knew this was an issue with older models of total Stations, but hadn’t realised that the issue was still present in current models. Based on this feedback, we got to work and designed a small cover for the radio handle that helps to prevent water ingress to the connection point. The cover slides on and off and self holds in position to help stop water getting into the electronic connection point thus protecting the radio handle from damage and need of repair or replacement. The combination of both the ATR Shield and the Radio Handle Protector allows Leica and Geomax Total Station operators to work in all weather knowing their equipment is protected from the inclement weather that we experience so often here in the UK. The two components were both created and designed by ATR Shield and are manufactured in the UK.
