Aurora Spirit is the world’s northernmost distillery, located at 69.39°N in Lyngen, Norway. Situated deep within the Arctic Circle, the distillery and its visitor center rest at the foot of the majestic Lyngen Alps. The site offers not only breathtaking surroundings but also a fascinating history, as it was once a NATO coastal fort built during the Cold War.
Today, some of the old bunkers have been repurposed for the maturation of aquavit.
Under the brand name BIVROST, Aurora Spirit produces whisky, gin, vodka, and the regional spirit aquavit, crafted with locally harvested Arctic botanicals and naturally filtered glacial meltwater.
The distillery is open to visitors year-round, offering guided tours and tastings.
