Author Kelly Waters Overview

Kelly Waters wanted to be an author since the third grade. In fifth grade, she wrote her first novel in an oversized journal from the hallmark store. In high school, she wrote a mess of a science-fiction-dystopia, and a few peers lasted through the whole thing. Throughout college, Kelly participated in creative writing courses, and at Penn State, she joined the Creative Writing Club. She sharpened her skills, found life-long friends that pushed her to write, and finished her debut novel “Lithium and Let’s Plays.” Outside of writing novels, Kelly writes music that she uploads to her YouTube channel, creates poetry and art for Instagram, and studies data analytics. When Kelly was 19 years old, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Reading from childhood always made her feel less lonely, but the pool of novels that kept her from feeling lonely shrank after her diagnosis. After discovering a select few books with protagonists that had bipolar disorder, she became inspired to write her own novel with a protagonist who had bipolar disorder. While looking towards future projects, Kelly has many fictional ideas. She has a completed novella and is in the mists of deciding whether to publish it separately or in conjunction with a series. Kelly is also gathering her collection of poems and trying to piece them together. These days, writing songs have really helped her work through hard times, and she wants to release an officially recorded album. Writing is Kelly’s passion, and she will never stops doing it.
