Autism today association was founded by parents of autistic children, specialists in this field and public personalities; established in 2014 by Sofia City Court (case No856);
MAIN GOALS:
• Organizing trainings for therapists, specialists and teachers involved in the therapeutic care and education of ASD children and improving the formers' qualifications;
• Working for creating a single database for children with autistic spectrum disorders;
• Working to provide moral, physical and psychological support to families of ASD children;
• Working to ensure access to quality education for children of the autism spectrum in Bulgaria, tailored to the individual needs and of the children, aiming to get the maximum of the capabilities of each ASD child in Bulgaria;
• Working to provide qualitative social and health care as well as independent and dignified life for autistic children, youth and adults in Bulgaria, as well as for their families;
• Protecting the rights of autistic people and their families in Bulgaria against discrimination and segregation;
• Carrying out joint activities with other organizations within the country and abroad aiming to exchange expertise, by establishing mutual cooperation.
ACTIVITIES:
• Establishing a professional society in Bulgaria of highly qualified specialists providing professional care and work with autistic children;
• Campaigns of social awareness;
• Active participation in legislative amendments in order to provide higher quality of life to autistic people in Bulgaria and their families.
