Autophagix is a small, entrepreneurial biotech company dedicated to the discovery, design and progression of novel therapeutics for autophagy modulation and the treatment of inflammatory disorders. Autophagy is an essential homeostatic process by which cells degrade their own proteins and organelles and is important in balancing the benefical and detrimental effects of immunity and inflammation. Dysregulation of autophagy has been implicated in a wide range of disorders including IBD, SLE and various neurodegenerative conditions. Autophagix was formed as a spin-out from Cellzome following its acquisition by GSK in 2012 and is currently in the process of raising Series A finance to progress its first generation of molecules into development.
