The Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) is the largest of the area associations under the umbrella of the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM).
The area association was established in 1950. It now has a membership of 54 municipalities, regional districts, First Nations and Trust Areas that stretches from Haida Gwaii down to the tip of Vancouver Island and includes Powell River/qathet, the Sunshine Coast, the Central Coast and the North Coast.
The Association deals with issues and concerns that affect all our members ranging from large urban areas to small rural communities.
