Baby Umbrella is an award-winning small charity offering breastfeeding and early parenting support to families in West Kent. Our vision is for every family in West Kent to have access to skilled and compassionate support during their parenting journey. We are here to listen, support and empower parents to make the decisions that feel right for them and their babies.
The first 1,000 days of a baby’s life from pregnancy to age 2 offers a golden opportunity to lay down the foundation for lifelong health and wellbeing. It is in this critical window when babies’ brains develop at their fastest pace, but it is also a time of unique vulnerability for families. The presence of a supportive community around new families can transform their lives and their futures - this is why Baby Umbrella’s work is so important.
Baby Umbrella runs free breastfeeding and early parenting support in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and online. We offer individual appointments with highly trained Lactation Consultants and Breastfeeding Counsellors, with our Perinatal Listening Service offering additional emotional support. We also run support groups with trained Peer Supporters. We see over 1,000 families a year and are open 49 weeks a year. We offer support with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, expressing breastmilk and introducing solids. We also support families with infant sleep, adjusting to parenthood and much more.
