Bakwena Telecommunications, originally founded as Bakwena Wireless in 2018, was the brainchild of CEO Kopano Ramashala, a Daveyton, Ekurhuleni native. Frustrated by the absence of uncapped internet services in his community, Ramashala embarked on the journey to establish the company.
Starting small and fueled by local support, Bakwena Telecommunications has grown organically. What began as a local initiative to provide wireless fiber services in Ekurhuleni has expanded to offer fiber services nationwide.
As one of the earliest 100% Black Owned Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in South Africa, Bakwena Telecommunications reflects the commitment to addressing digital disparities across the nation.
