At The Banana Action Group, our goal is to unite the world to defeat that threat, and give banana production a secure, sustainable future. The Banana Action Group is an initiative run by The Global Alliance against TR4 - the vehicle for organizing the world's collective efforts to combat the fungal disease known as Fusarium oxysporum Tropical Race 4 (TR4). What do we do? We innovate - supporting research and development of new TR4-resistant varieties of banana. We engage with business leaders, policy-makers, NGOs, civil society organizations and researchers to get them involved in the battle against TR4.And most importantly, we work with people on the ground in TR4-affected areas - equipping them with efficient, sustainable and bio-secure tools and practices. So TR4 can't get established on their land, and so they can be confident in a fair deal, good outcomes, and a prosperous future.TR4 is an existential threat. But if we combine our resources and knowledge, we can stop its spread. In the process, we prevent disease, protect food security, and give bananas and banana producers the future they deserve.
