Banana Enterprise Network (a registered charity) provides specialist training courses around Business start up, growth and personal development in addition to employability training.
We also have a growing network of entrepreneurs.
Born on 16th July 2014, our charity has steadily grown and offers free courses to registered unemployed people. We offer commercial courses too.
Banana was started by experienced Business Advisor Jayne Allman, who spotted a gap in provision whilst working for a Government funded business support provider. She had funds of just £200 and grew Banana to a turnover in excess of £90k within the first 2 years.
Jayne teamed up with various highly respected and well established specialist charities bringing together a wealth of experience, services and skills to help those in need. Working in partnership at grass roots level, Banana Enterprise Network empowers people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to unlock their potential. This enables them to consider their options for work more widely and to start their self-employment journey with confidence, if they choose that particular pathway.
For many people, who have been unable to find work, exploring the idea of self-employment can offer hope, increased self-esteem and confidence, a wide variety of new skills and knowledge and an awareness of what could be possible. This can ultimately, provide them with a rewarding route out of hardship!
BUT, its not easy running a business so our "real world" practical training helps people to make an "informed choice" about it. WE offer fun and informative small group training and a service that's second to none!
With around 50% of new businesses failing in the first year or two, its important to get the right knowledge and support at the right time.
