Basketbelles CIC Overview

Basketbelles is a Community Interest Company (CIC) with a clear mission to increase women’s basketball participation and expand the talent pool in Birmingham and surrounding areas. Our focus goes beyond inclusivity and leadership; we aim to provide girls from all backgrounds with the chance to get involved in basketball through free or subsidised sessions. We also offer small-group skill development sessions to help players refine their abilities and progress to the next level. Basketbelles seeks to educate parents, guardians, and students about how basketball can open doors to higher education and career opportunities. Drawing from our Director’s journey, we’re passionate about showing young girls and their families how basketball can be a trampoline for future success, while also dismantling the barriers that often prevent girls from pursuing their athletic dreams. Basketbelles also addresses an essential gap in the education system by offering workshops that educate girls and women about their health, bodies, and wellbeing—crucial knowledge often missing from traditional education. We aim to support girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, those without female role models, or those simply lacking access to this vital information. Our vision is to build a community that is not only women-led but also empowering, helping girls and women develop the confidence and skills to succeed both on and off the court. At its core, Basketbelles is about creating a women-led, empowering community—one that nurtures talent, builds confidence, and provides the tools for success both on and off the court.
