At BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, we’re on a mission to ensure everyone’s experience with technology is positive. It’s something we’ve been committed to since the British Computer Society was founded in 1957. As a charity with a royal charter, our agenda is to lead the IT industry through its ethical challenges, to support the people who work in the industry, and ultimately to make IT good for society. We are 68,000 members in 150 countries, and a wider community of business leaders, educators, practitioners and policymakers all committed to our mission. As the leading professional membership and examination body for IT, we support professionals across the industry, from apprentices and students to specialists and thought leaders. Through our diverse portfolio, we’ve been offering professional certifications for over 25 years. Today we cover the breadth of IT subject areas, with over 60 certifications in 13 core subject areas. In the last 10 years we’ve delivered over 700,000 certifications and we support a worldwide network of over 100 BCS-accredited training provider partners. All our certifications are developed with the aim of providing fair, valid and reliable assessment so you can be confident that a candidate holding a BCS certificate is competent in that level of the subject. To ensure this, we embed auditable quality assurance at every step of the development process: from the careful recruitment of the industry experts who create our syllabus; to multi-level reviews for every single question item before it’s accepted into the exam bank. Furthermore, items are written for every single learning objective, so candidates have the opportunity to demonstrate their breadth of knowledge in their subject area when they are assessed. All our certifications can be taken individually, and we’ve also created a breadth of certification pathways at various levels, offering professionals a clear route for progression and career-long learning.
