Raised in a cult environment with conservative Christian roots, I reached adulthood with many emotional, spiritual, and psychological wounds. With a good financial start but no understanding of boundaries or a healthy self-worth, I soon found myself financially destitute.
In September 2016 I had the gift of hitting rock bottom…
I had no boundaries when it came to the people I loved and could not say “no”. By 2016 my spouse and I had filed bankruptcy, I couldn’t keep up with the bills, my spouse left and I found myself going through a divorce I never expected I would have. I had nothing but my job and my two young girls.
I learned so much through my financial recovery journey that I would not trade for the world. I learned that little changes make a big difference over time, guilt and shame have no place in my financial story, and that my traumas and past experiences caused me to self-sabotage my finances (although I didn’t even know it at the time).
I use those painful experiences to help others discover the hero within themselves.
