Bell College is now known as University of the West of Scotland (UWS).
In December 2002, Bell College and the University of Paisley opened up formal discussions with the view to merge. On 1st August 2007 the institutions merged creating four campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley.
On 30th November 2008 the University officially changed its name to University of the West Scotland (UWS).
