The BEST4.0 project (Blue Economy Sectors Digital Transformation towards Industry 4.0) was a candidate for the Interreg V-A Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 competition, 1st call for proposals (IT-HR Clusters), thematic area - encouraging the introduction of digital innovations.
Many established and emerging sectors of the blue economy today need innovation, technology transfer and digitization of products and processes. This is a consequence of the lack of connection between private sectors and centers for research and innovation in the program area, favoring the application of the key principles of I4.0, for both production and process innovation. Improving this connection through the role of Digital Innovation Hubs (DiHs) would enable the reduction of the distance between different territories, in terms of process and product innovation.
The goal of the project is to support the introduction of I4.0 principles in the sectors of the blue economy, through DiHs and innovative, smart and digital business solutions. The innovative elements of BEST4.0 will be applied on a methodology based on a bottom-up approach starting from the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises to improve the services offered, enriched in the catalog of innovative services offered and thanks to the establishment of a cross-border network.
Through cross-border cooperation, the organization of DIHs, development agencies and innovation centers that can support small and medium-sized enterprises and provide I4.0 solutions and services, BEST4.0 will create:
1. Cross-border catalog I.40 of the blue economy,
2. A cross-border network of centers for digital innovation, which helps small and medium-sized enterprises of the blue economy in realizing their digital transformation,
3. Create innovative business solutions, I4.0 applications.
