BIDNA CAPOEIRA
Bidna Capoeira is a sport and psychosocial support charity which uses the Brazilian dance, music and art form of Capoeira to help children and youth in vulnerable in situations. Our programmes alleviate alienation, mental distress and break cycles of violence.
OUR WORK
Joyful sounds of singing, music, and laughter aren’t often associated with refugee camps. Beyond the smiles and laughter, participants benefit from enhanced resilience, empowerment, social inclusion, and freedom to express themselves through capoeira-based fun and play.
Capoeira is an inclusive tool that helps vulnerable children safely release aggression and find joy in play. Bidna Capoeira reaches an entire community as everyone has a role, singing, clapping, making music and playing.
Bidna Capoeira is uniquely placed to use sport and arts as therapeutic tools in disrupted, marginalised and underserved communities.
SUMMARY
Bidna Capoeira has worked with over 10,000 children since beginning capoeira projects in Syria in 2007. The international charitable entity was set up in January 2010. Bidna Capoeira has worked in Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and the UK and is now launching the the international CapoeiraPeaceDay.
