The Biohydrometallurgy Research Group of the University of Seville has its headquarters in the Faculty of Chemistry. Its research activity is characterized by a marked interdisciplinary nature, having extensive experience in the generation of knowledge and application of technologies based on Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy, Waste Management and Biotechnology.
The group has developed numerous national and international research projects and technology transfer contracts. In many of them, it has cooperated with entities from the mining, metallurgical and environmental management sectors. In sync with the needs and stimuli coming from companies in this productive context, it has provided technological solutions and proposals based on clean technologies, sustainable development, circular economy, rational use of energy, valorization and efficient use of natural resources and zero emissions of effluents and gases.
The level of technological maturation of the proposed conceptual engineering reaches TRL 7.

· Control of chemical eatching of Aluminum.
· Bioleaching of metallic sulfides and global concentrates.
· Biooxidation of aqueous effluents.
· Biogas desulfurization.
· Pyrite ash treatment.
· Copper smelting slag treatment.
· Electric arc furnace treatment.
· Purification of effluents from mining-metallurgical facilities.
· Biogenic obtention of organo-arsenical complexes with antitumoral properties.
· E-waste treatment.
