Bourke & District Children's Services is a not-for-profit community controlled organisation, providing Childcare, Preschool and Mobile Children's Services. We also host a Connected Beginnings project that works collaboratively with the Bourke Community to improve outcomes in school readiness for Aboriginal Children in the Bourke community.
BDCS takes a holistic approach, with the child at the centre, supported by families and community. We are working in improve access to early childhood services across Bourke District, by empowering and providing opportunities to our employees, with a focus on our First Nations workers to create culturally safe places for children, families and the community.
We aim to reduce vulnerability and disadvantage by connecting children and families with a range of health, family and early intervention services.
Our Preschool commenced operation in 1969 as the Project Enrichment of Childhood Preschool, and in 2008 amalgamated with the Community Childcare and Mobile Children's Service.
We service children and families within Bourke, Enngonia, Louth, Wanaaring, Hungerford and Tilpa and travel up to 300km to rural properties.
