Bowel Cancer New Zealand

Bowel Cancer New Zealand company information, Employees & Contact Information

Bowel Cancer NZ was created out of need. Immense need. Every one of us at the charity is dedicated to reducing the impact of bowel cancer. We do this by supporting those living with bowel cancer and their whānau; educating communities and raising awareness of bowel cancer symptoms; being the strongest voice advocating for nationwide screening; and funding research into treatments, and ultimately, a cure. Up until 2010, despite bowel cancer being the second biggest cancer killer in New Zealand, no one was advocating for bowel cancer or working to increase awareness of symptoms. So a group of bowel cancer survivors joined forces with industry experts and founded our much-needed charitable organisation. Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in New Zealand and kills as many people as breast and prostate cancer combined. Yet it’s one of the most treatable cancers – if it’s diagnosed early enough. We work closely with a group of experienced medical advisors and health professionals who share our commitment to a New Zealand free from bowel cancer. We support New Zealanders recovering from treatment and those living with bowel cancer as well as their whānau. We do this through one-to-one support services provided by our bowel cancer nurse, vital resources, our service directory and online support group, and through sharing personal stories. Contact our nurse via - here4you@bowelcancer.org.nz. Research is critical: it could free future generations from bowel cancer. Apart from early detection, research is the most important way to save lives. Bowel Cancer NZ continuously supports a variety of research projects thanks to invaluable funding from our partners. Ultimately our goal is to reduce the impact of bowel cancer on New Zealanders and communities and to ensure that no more lives are lost to this silent killer.
